Hillcrest High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in the Elmvale Acres neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school was opened in 1961, and has over 1100 students. Its sports teams are nicknamed "The Hawks". Hillcrest High School is a very ethnically diverse school with many different kinds of people living in and around the surrounding community. Some different ethnics include Blacks, Arabs and South Asians, and Somalis. Hillcrest has students from over 100 countries. Hillcrest has a long history of success in sports. In the show, Hillcrest has won numerous Boys Rugby, Basketball and Hockey Championships. Their Senior Boys Rugby Team is considered the top in the city 06-08. Their Junior Basketball team is considered the top in the city in the year 08-09. Hillcrest's varsity Girls Hockey Team has also claimed the tier 2 championship two years in a row 08-09 & 09-10. Also notable is their track team's long history of success at the city and even provincial level. Many players on the Ottawa 67's attend Hillcrest during the season as well. Hillcrest has a university Advanced Placement program, which is a method of extending class room learning through activities and travel, a co-curricular program, and a computer technology program in information management. Hillcrest is also involved in the community; students raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society every year. Hillcrest raised over $350,000 in the last 16 years that the cancer drive has run, all for cancer research. Hillcrest is in School Zone 6.
